Why You Should Give Up The Phone Addiction
Table of Contents
This is a biggie.
The average person uses their phone for 3 hours and 15 minutes a day.
What about every time you went to pick up your phone you did something else instead?
You could…
– Meditate
– Talk to your kids
– Write something, a story, a letter, a blog post, a journal entry…
How productive could you be if instead of looking at your phone you..
– Decluttered something
– Cleaned an item or a room
– Cooked or baked something
– Did some laundry
Would you be happier if you did these things and picked up your phone less?
– Your nails or a face mask.
– Listened to some music and sang along.
– Napped
Could you raise yourself to a higher vibration if you?
– Went for a walk
– Exercised
– Listened to a podcast
– Painted something
– Read a book
– Called a friend
Would your income grow if you:
– Started a side hustle
– Created something
Do you always need to be doing something? Does it have to be something productive? Can it be something just to raise your vibration?
– Can you just sit?
– Or doodle
Motivation for Not Picking Up Your Phone and Doing Something Else
Whenever you are changing a habit, it’s easier if you have a replacement activity for that habit whenever you get the urge to indulge. So instead of looking at your phone, you can have a list of written activities you can do instead (like the ones listed above).
Your activities may differ from mine. But anything that excites you is good!
How To Measure How Much Time You Spend on Your Phone
You can measure how much time you use your phone each day.
Go to your phone settings and digital balance to get your figure.
It will break down all the different activities you are doing with your phone and how much time you are spending on each one.
This can really open your eyes to how much time you spend looking at your phone. Look at the number of hours you spend. It will shock you. Imagine how your life could be different if you used this time differently.
Instead of going on your phone, you can use this time to change your life. 🙂
How To Turn Off Phone Notifications
The first step you need to take is to turn off notifications for email, social media, the news and any unnessecesary apps. I keep my text and phone notifications on but have turned everything else off. It will stop you from picking up and checking your phone several times a day.
Do this by going to settings then notifications. You can turn off notifications from any app here.
Then unless you need to use your phone hide it in another room. I hide my phone under the bed. If you want to, you can keep the sound on for phone calls and texts.
